Leta 2009 pa je iz\u0161el znanstveni \u010dlanek dr. M. E. Falagasa in sodelavcev (CMAJ, \u0161t. 18\/8), v katerem dokazujejo, da so za pre\u017eivetje najnevarnej\u0161i zimski meseci, najmanj\u0161a smrtnost pa je poleti. Analizirali so uradne podatke za desetletje in ve\u010d o smrtih in vzrokih zanje za veliko razvitih de\u017eel. Na severni polobli je najve\u010dja smrtnost v januarju, pa tudi v februarju.<br \/>\nNajbolj pogosta vzroka sta takrat bolezni srca in o\u017eilja in bolezni dihal. V Sredozemlju in v Kaliforniji, ki imata milo klimo, je smrtnost najni\u017eja v septembru, na \u0160vedskem in v Severni Ameriki avgusta, na Japonskem pa julija. V poletnih mesecih je najmanj infekcij dihal, ki so lahko zlasti pozimi usodne za starej\u0161e in bolnike s kroni\u010dnimi obolenji. Raziskovalci poudarjajo tudi zelo verjeten blagodejni vpliv son\u010dne svetlobe na odpornost organizma. Svetloba namre\u010d pove\u010duje koli\u010dino vitamina D v telesu, kar krepi imunski sistem. Kot smo \u017ee pisali, polurno son\u010denje (brez opeklin) pove\u010da koli\u010dino du\u0161i\u010dnega oksida v krvi, ki raz\u0161irja \u017eile in zmanj\u0161uje krvni tlak. Previsok krvni tlak je najve\u010dji dejavnik tveganj sr\u010dno \u017eilnih zapletov.<\/p>\n<p>Zato nikar ne odla\u0161ajmo.
